The joint project of Alexei Borisov (electronics)
and Sergey Letov (saxophones, flute, bass clarinet, Akai EWI USB, nanoKorg) started in 1996.
One of
the first experiences for two musicians playing together has been
live soundtracks for different silent movies and videoart. Live
improvised
soundtrack for silent
movie "Faust – eine deutsche Volkssage" by F.W. Murnau (1926)
became the most serious and global artistic project of Borisov/Letov
duo. The "Faust" soundtrack (total time: 112 minutes)
consists of two main components: abstract electronics of Borisov
and
free improvisations of Letov. Usually the soundtrack is also completed
by digital and analog noise, minimal beats, elements of "music
concrete",
variations from jazz, classical music and folklore.
"Faust" with live music by Borisov/Letov duo was presented
in Moscow, Samara, Volgograd, Saratov, Smolensk, Ekaterinburg, Perm,
Krasnoyarsk, Nizhny Novgorod, Kaliningrad, Arkhangelsk, Kazan, Cheboxary, Voronezh, Pereslavl Zalessky, Dniepropetrovsk, Berlin and Hamburg (Germany).
